After the rigorous process of submitting your resume and cover letters all across the web, you find yourself in an interesting position. You have received multiple job offers, with each one more appealing than the next! The positions are yours for the taking, and all appeal to you. What should you do?

To choose the ideal job, you’ll need to compare several factors. Here’s what to assess to make the best decision.

1. Responsibilities

Visualize performing the various tasks at each company. Mentally try on the roles you’d play. Does one job prompt more excitement than the others? Gauge how often you’d use fulfilling skills. Do you prefer one company’s specialization, products, or services?

Are you clear about the job expectations? If you don’t know the full extent of responsibilities, tell you job search professional as they can provide details. If you still have unanswered questions, they can obtain more information.

2. Environments

To fully assess a company’s culture, you need to work there. However, you can gain clues from your interviews. Reflect on your glimpses of the facilities and conversations you had.

Did one environment appear more relaxed, the staff agreeable and laughing? Conversely, did many employees seem stressed? If you interviewed around noon, were employees working through lunch? Such perceptions warn of a high-pressure atmosphere. While some people thrive on busyness and deadlines, this setting may not suit you.

3. Staff

Did you connect with one particular manager? The relationship with your boss has a strong influence on job satisfaction. Can you foresee developing a rapport with a prospective boss?

Could you discern the supervisors’ management styles? Recall staff interactions and whether they seemed congenial. You’ll be happier on a job where employees are friendly team players.

4. Amenities

Progressive companies provide conveniences and services to foster employee satisfaction. One employer may offer more appealing amenities than another. Here are some of the most common:

  • Enrichment Programs – Guest speakers give lectures on topics related to a company’s values and mission.
  • Onsite Health Services – Gyms and health seminars are becoming popular.
  • Recreation – It’s becoming increasingly common for businesses to build onsite volleyball and basketball courts. Relaxation lounges are also finding their way into corporate settings. Some include gaming systems and arcades! Other companies pay for gym memberships as part of a health program.
  • Event Tickets – HR Departments offer free or discounted tickets to plays, shows, and professional games.

5. Compensation

Is one company offering better compensation than the others? Calculate whether you can meet all your living expenses on each salary. In addition to income, consider medical and dental insurance, a retirement plan, and paid time off. Evaluate the entire package, not just the paycheck.

6. Growth Potential

If career advancement is important to you, ensure you can grow with a given company. Some firms include a Career Development Department. Others provide off site training to learn new skills. Project into the future. Can you foresee yourself staying with a particular firm long-term?

7. Commute

If travel involves considerable time, effort, and expense, a job may not be worth taking. Commuting is a reality for most working professionals but it is important to take into consideration the toll your commute may cause.

Good Fortune

When you are fortunate enough to receive more than one job offer, compare responsibilities, environments, staff, amenities, compensation, growth potential, and commute.
